1. Where We Are Now

The department currently manages procurement planning, contractor registration, tender processes and contract record-keeping across every council purchase of goods, works and services.

Functions
  • Initiation of the procurement process for acquisition of goods, works and services in line with stipulated procurement laws
  • Preparation of procurement plans for goods, works, consultancy/non-consulting services, training, workshops, conferences, seminars and other procurable items
  • Preparation of bidding documents for procurement of goods, works and consultancy services, taking ESG principles into consideration
  • Market survey
  • Registration of contractors
  • Keeping of contract records
  • Organisation of procurement tender, evaluation and disposal committee meetings

The department is working toward a more streamlined vendor registration process and wider publication of tender opportunities, so more qualified local businesses can compete for council contracts.
