The basic responsibility of the Public Affairs Unit is to promote the council's activities projects and programmes using mass media platforms, and to project the image of Ikorodu North LCDA in a positive, accurate direction, serving as the bridge between council departments and the media so public information stays properly coordinated.

1. Where We Are Now

The unit currently coordinates press releases, media engagement and public communications for the council, monitors press and social media for misinformation, and produces newsletters and documentaries on council activities.

2. What We Do Now
Functions
  • Liaises with all departments and units in the Council to publicise their activities and build public understanding
  • Writes regular press releases on council activities, projects and programmes for media organisations
  • Responds to press inquiries and provides a comprehensive information service
  • Monitors press, radio, television, newspapers and social media, correcting misstatements or wrong information where necessary
  • Produces newsletters, brochures and quarterly magazines showcasing council activities
  • Organises press conferences on council activities
  • Produces visual documentaries on council activities
  • Publishes occasional supplements in newspapers and magazines showcasing council work
  • Distributes public relations materials to the general public
  • Organises media inspection tours of ongoing and completed council projects
  • Coordinates quarterly media relations visits by council political leadership to strengthen media ties
3. Where We Intend to Be

The unit is working toward more frequent digital updates through the News & Updates page, reducing the gap between when something happens and when residents hear about it.
