Service Overview

Ikorodu North Local Council Area is committed to building a community where residents have access to the skills, tools, and opportunities they need to thrive. Our Empowerment and Human Capacity Development initiatives focus on practical skills, economic self‑reliance, talent development, and targeted support for vulnerable groups.

Key Focus Areas

1. Skills Acquisition & Vocational Training

  • Tailored training programs in ICT, fashion design, catering, hairdressing, and crafts
  • Partnerships with accredited training institutes for practical, hands‑on learning
  • Certification pathways and mentorship opportunities for successful graduates
  • Support to transition into entrepreneurship or employment

2. Youth Empowerment

  • Career development workshops and job‑readiness programs
  • Digital literacy initiatives and coding bootcamps
  • Support for creative industries (photography, content creation, music, and more)
  • Innovation support through youth hubs and co‑working opportunities (where available)

3. Women Empowerment

  • Training in small business management and financial literacy
  • Support programs for widows, single mothers, and vulnerable women
  • Access to micro‑grants and cooperative support for women‑led businesses (where applicable)
  • Advocacy for inclusion and women’s participation in community leadership

4. Economic Empowerment & Entrepreneurship Support

  • Start‑up tools and kits support (e.g., sewing machines, hair dryers, farming tools) where applicable
