Service Overview

Ikorodu North LCDA Environmental Services works with residents, communities, and partners to improve sanitation, manage waste responsibly, protect public health, and promote sustainable practices across neighborhoods and markets.

Core Service Areas

1. Waste Management

  • Regular collection and disposal support for household and commercial waste
  • Placement of waste bins at key streets, markets, and public facilities
  • Collaboration with LAWMA and accredited PSP operators
  • Monitoring and enforcement against indiscriminate dumping
  • Public sensitization on recycling, sorting, and reducing single‑use plastics

2. Environmental Sanitation

  • Monthly environmental sanitation exercises
  • Drainage cleaning and desilting to reduce flooding risk
  • Street sweeping and beautification of public spaces
  • Enforcement of sanitation regulations in residential and commercial areas
  • Inspection and certification support for public toilets and sanitation facilities

3. Public Health & Safety

  • Vector control programs (including targeted fumigation in schools, markets, and public areas)
  • Regulation and hygiene checks for food vendors, abattoirs, and food‑handling businesses
  • Environmental health inspections to identify hazards and violations
  • Community health education on hygiene and disease prevention

4. Environmental Protection & Sustainability

  • Tree‑planting campaigns to increase green cover and reduce erosion
  • Protection of wetlands, waterways, and ecological zones
  • Awareness programs on climate change adaptation and mitigation
  • Promotion of greener practices such as composting and urban gardening

5. Market & Public Space Hygiene

  • Daily sanitation coordination in major markets (including Odogunyan, Isiwu, Agbala, and others)
  • Waste collection points for market clusters
  • Collaboration with market associations to maintain hygiene standards
  • Enforcement actions against open defecation and improper waste disposal

6. Community Engagement & Awareness

  • Public awareness campaigns through community leaders, schools, and media
  • Capacity building on environmental stewardship and cleanliness
  • Neighborhood clean‑up and beautification initiatives
  • Responsive complaint channels for reporting environmental issues
